Your guide to a safe and legal digital world.
The Business Software Alliance (BSA) believes all computer users should have a basic understanding of how to protect themselves from the growing number of Internet dangers. These dangers include, (for example: auction site fraud, unauthorized vendors selling counterfeit products and ripping off unsuspecting consumers, issues with identity theft…that is why we created the Online Cyber Safety Web site. On this site, you will find The Cyber Safety Glossary, a useful guide to common Internet threats and how to avoid them. We add terms to the glossary regularly. Revisit it regularly. The Protecting Yourself page offers you an overview of the dangers posed by spam. There you will also find articles about what to look for when selecting Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Firewall software. Other articles describe how to create safe passwords and protect yourself in other ways. Frequently updated news items keep you aware of the latest cyber dangers. Since auction fraud is on the rise, we are collecting first person accounts of buying pirated or counterfeit products. We are publishing these stories on the “Don't Get Duped ” page. There you will find advice on how to avoid being cheated, for example, a holiday tips guide for recognizing and avoiding online shopping security risks. Please return often to Online Cyber Safety. BSA hopes that this resource will be a useful online safety guide for you and your loved ones now and well into the future. Learn
